George Gray (born January 22, 1979 in Sidcup ) is a retired Canadian cross-country skier .

Career

Gray took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski from 1998 to 2011 . His first World Cup race was in Soldier Hollow in January 2001 , which he finished in 46th place in the 30 km mass start race. His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme were 39th place over 15 km classic and 15th place with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf , he reached 19th place in the sprint and sixth place in the team sprint. In December 2005 he got his first World Cup points in Canmore with the 16th place over 15 km freestyle. His best results at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato were 25th place in the skiathlon and 11th place in the team sprint and with the relay. He finished the Tour de Ski 2006/07 in 43rd place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he finished 25th in the 30 km ski race and 11th in the relay. In January 2009 he was able to achieve his first and only podium in the World Cup with third place in the team sprint in Whistler . He finished the 2008/09 season in 85th place in the overall World Cup ranking and 53rd in the distance ranking. These were his best overall World Cup placements. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , he finished 21st place over 15 km classic, ninth place in the team sprint and sixth place with the relay. His best results at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver were eighth place in the 30 km skiathlon race and seventh place in the relay. In the 2010/11 season he mainly started at the Nor Am Cup, which he finished with third place in the overall standings. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 46th place in the skiathlon and twelfth place in the relay. At the end of his career, he started at the Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships 2011 in Canmore, where he won three golds.
