George Henry Fox

George Henry Fox (born October 8, 1846 in Ballston Spa , † May 3, 1937 in Manhattan ) was an American dermatologist.

Live and act

George Henry Fox traced his family tree back to a Thomas Fox who lived in Concord, Massachusetts around 1640 . During the last eight months of the Civil War he fought in the ranks of the Union Army . In 1867 he graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts degree . From Rochester he went to the University of Pennsylvania , where he earned his medical doctorate in 1869. Then worked for a year as a doctor at Blockley Hospital in Philadelphia and then went to Europe for three years for further training:

Ferdinand von Herbra in Vienna inspired him to specialize in dermatology . In London, in the clinic of William Tilbury Fox, he met his compatriot Henry Granger Piffard , with whom he subsequently worked closely.
