George Stack (born May 9, 1946 in Cork , Ireland ) is Archbishop of Cardiff .

Life

George Stack received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Westminster on May 21, 1972 and then worked as a chaplain in a hospital until 1975 . After many years as a parish priest, he became vicar general of the Archdiocese of Westminster in 1990 .

On 12 April 2001 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Gemellae in Numidia and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Westminster. The Archbishop of Westminster, Cormac Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor , donated him episcopal ordination on May 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus at Westminster, Victor Guazzelli , and the Bishop of Leeds , David Every Konstant . On April 19, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Cardiff. The inauguration took place on June 20 of the same year. Stack also represents the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales on the International Commission on the English Language in the Liturgy.

On July 11, 2019, he was also appointed Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Diocese of Menevia .

George Stack is Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . He is a Grand Cross Knight of the Order of Constantine .
