Georges of Cottenet

Georg (es) August von Cottenet (born September 28, 1807 in Berlin ; † August 15, 1900 at Gut Braunau , district of Löwenberg , province of Silesia ) was a royal Prussian politician and member of the Reichstag .

Cottenet attended the Roßleben monastery school and then studied law at the universities of Berlin , Heidelberg and Göttingen . He received his doctorate as Dr. jur. and then embarked on an administrative career. At the height of his career, from 1852 to 1873 he was the Prussian district administrator and state elder of the Löwenberg district . From 1866 to 1873 he was a Privy Councilor.

Cottenet was a member of the Prussian First Chamber from 1849 to 1852 , from 1852 to 1862 and from 1862 to 1867 of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituent district of Liegnitz 9. He belonged to the constituent Reichstag, the Reichstag of the North German Confederation and the German Reichstag from 1867 to 1874 for the constituency Liegnitz 5 (Löwenberg). He was a member of the Conservative Party .

He was raised to the Prussian nobility on October 18, 1861 in Königsberg (Prussia) . Cottenet was a landlord on Braunau, where he died in 1900.
