Gerald Forcher

Gerald Forcher (born August 12, 1977 in Judenburg ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). From June 13, 2018 to March 11, 2020 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

Life

After primary school in Sankt Georgen ob Judenburg, Gerald Forcher attended secondary school II Judenburg and the polytechnic course in Judenburg. He then completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Austria-Antriebstechnik in Spielberg . In Styria he worked as a youth trust council, in 1997 he became youth secretary of the union of private employees, printing, journalism, paper (GPA-djp) in Salzburg , of which he has been regional manager since 2012. Since 2014, he has been the successor to Walter Androschin (1959–2013) as the Salzburg state chairman of the Social Democratic Union (FSG) group.

Since 2009 he has been a member of the board of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor and a member of the SPÖ Salzburg regional party committee , and since 2013 he has also been a member of the SPÖ Salzburg regional party presidency . In the state elections in Salzburg in 2018 , he ran for the SPÖ behind Walter Steidl and Stefanie Mösl in third place on the state list. On 13 June 2018 he was in the inaugural parliament session of the 16th legislative term as a Member of the Salzburg Parliament sworn in .

After a " loud and sometimes violent argument " between Forcher and a union employee, Forcher resigned his state parliament mandate on March 11, 2020 and announced that he would be stepping down from his post at the FSG at the end of July 2020 [out of date] . At the beginning of May 2020, Michael Huber succeeded him as Managing Director of GPA-djp Salzburg. Johann Ganitzer took his place in the state parliament on May 27, 2020 .

In June 2020 he was presented by the designated SPÖ state party leader David Egger as the future state manager of the SPÖ Salzburg to succeed Hannes Mathes.
