David Egger 2020

David Michael Egger (born March 7, 1987 in Oberndorf near Salzburg ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). He has been Vice Mayor of Neumarkt am Wallersee since 2019 . Since July 1, 2020 he has been the party chairman of the SPÖ Salzburg , and since July 8, 2020 he has been a member of the Federal Council delegated by the Salzburg state parliament .

Life

education and profession

David Egger grew up in Neumarkt am Wallersee , where he attended the commercial academy (HAK) after elementary and secondary school and graduated in 2006 . He then did community service with the Workers' Samaritan Association in Salzburg. In 2009 he began a bachelor's degree in communication science at the University of Salzburg , and from 2016 to 2018 he also attended a course in sports journalism there . From 2012 to 2014 he was an editor for the Salzburg district sheets . Since 2016 he has been content manager at Red Bull Media House and an independent presenter.

politics

Egger has been a member of the municipal council in Neumarkt am Wallersee since 2014 , where he has held the office of First Vice Mayor since 2019 . In the municipal council and mayoral elections in Salzburg in 2019 , he ran for the office of mayor with his team David Egger and was defeated by the incumbent ÖVP mayor in the first ballot. On May 15, 2020, he was designated by the state party executive as state party chairman of the SPÖ Salzburg . He is to succeed Walter Steidl in this role on July 1, 2020 . During his activity as SPÖ state party leader, he does not exercise the jobs of content manager and moderator.

By July 8, 2020 moved Egger as the Salzburg Parliament entsendetes member of the Federal Council for Michael Wanner after which in turn moved to the parliament on the mandate of Walter Steidl. The swearing- in in the Federal Council took place on July 15, 2020.
