Gerald Hinteregger

Gerald Hinteregger (born November 12, 1928 in Weiz , Styria , † February 17, 2013 in Vienna ) was an Austrian ambassador .

Life

Gerald Hinteregger completed extensive studies in foreign languages, music, philosophy and law in Graz. In 1951 Gerald Hinteregger became a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at the University of Mississippi. He received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Graz . He received his doctorate in law from the University of Vienna . In 1957 he joined the foreign service. From 1965 to 1970 he was the embassy secretary in Washington, DC From 1970 to 1975 he headed the office of Rudolf Kirchschläger . From 1975 to 1978 he was ambassador to Madrid . From 1978 to 1981 he was ambassador to Moscow . From 1981 to 1987 he was Secretary General in the Austrian Foreign Ministry. From 1987 to 1993 he was Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe .
