Gerard Brady

Gerard Brady (born July 1, 1936 - May 17, 2020 in Dublin ) was an Irish politician . He sat from 1977 to 1992 in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .

Brady was elected to the 21st Dáil Éireann in 1977 for the Fianna Fáil . He replaced his father Philip A. Brady , who, apart from a short break, had been sitting in the Dáil Éireann since 1951 and was no longer running for health reasons. Gerard Brady was re-elected five times.

During the 23rd Dáil he was Minister of State in the Ministry of the Environment from March 23rd to October 27th, 1982 . Brady then became the new Minister of Education, his predecessor Martin O'Donoghue resigned on October 6th, and held this office from October 27th to December 14th, 1982.
