Gerd Birsner (born July 12, 1953 in Sinsheim near Heidelberg) is a German dialect - songwriter , journalist , radio presenter, music publisher and local politician.

Life

Birsner grew up in Neunstetten (Buchen district) and Bodersweier (Kehl district). After graduating from high school and doing community service , he first studied music and English for teaching at the EWH Landau . There he also wrote his first own songs and composed for the student orchestra. In 1980 he received a scholarship to study pop music at the University of Music in Hamburg. Birsner was the first recipient of the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Prize . Since 1988 he has lived in Diersheim near Kehl am Rhein. From 1989 to 2009 he was mayor there.

Since 2010 he has been the project manager of the Gengenbach Cultural Summer . He has been writing the evening ritual for the local advent calendar since 2010. From June 2011, Birsner's original views appeared on Wednesdays as a weekly column in the Kehler Zeitung .

music

The self-confessed native of Baden sings almost exclusively his own songs and performs in the Baden Regiolekt . He made his first appearance in 1975 in Mannheim at the Alte Feuerwache . He studied popular music in Hamburg and took guitar lessons from Peter Horton and Hans Haider . In 1978 he was invited to the young talent festival of the German Phono Academy , in 1979 he was the German contribution to the international folk festival of the WDR on the Domplatte and received prizes at the WDR in the competitions "Folk im Sender" and "Internationales democratic song". In 1982 he represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the People and Sea Festival in Rostock.

Record label Schnoog

In 1984 he founded his record label "Schnoog" (dialect for 'Mücke' ). Shortly afterwards he received the price of the German Record Critics' quarterly list for his first own LP "Dreikäsehochs & Luftikisses" . With the Ramberger song philosopher Peter Weißgerber he produced the CD "Fahrradfahren und philosophieren", which was in the best songs list from December 1999 to February 2000 . In 1991 the single "When de Babbe in de Schlabbe in de Rappe dabbe duut" was released. About 60 CDs - mainly acoustic music and songwriters - were released on Schnoog Räcords. The artists included Manfred Pohlmann and Colin Wilkie .

Radio and tv

After appearing with “Birsner & Co” (in addition to Birsner, Dieter Kindl, bass, Thomas Langlotz, guitar and “Kippe” Helbig, percussion) at the SDR at the State Garden Show in Ulm in 1980, he started in the “Notiert for you” editorial department of the SDR its broadcast cooperation. He played the “Landfreak Fluppy” on the SDR youth program “ point ”, and on children's radio he produced “So listen up, children”. In 1995 he processed his experiences as a children's radio author in his children's book "Walbert & Piep". Contributions for school radio with a focus on music followed. He learned to make films in the SDR's Mannheim TV studio, where he moderated Treffpunkt in the third TV program alongside Hans Dieter Reichert and Sonja Schrecklein .

Local politics

From 1989 to 2009 Birsner was the mayor of Rheinau-Diersheim. To mark the 750th anniversary in 1991, 120 residents sang and played the village history over three days in his historic, tongue-in-cheek musical “Diersche forever”. He was the author of a radio glossary "Unser Ortsrumsteher" (in SWR4 1999 to 2005) about everyday life as Diersheim local head.
