Gerd Jäger (born August 16, 1961 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German architect .

biography

Jäger studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart from 1981 to 1987 . In 1985 and 1986 he studied as a guest at the ETH Zurich .

In 1987 he started a dissertation on Alvar Aalto . In 1988 he broke off this, moved to Switzerland and worked there for Ammann and Baumann Architects in Zug . From 1989 to 1991 he was assistant to Herbert E. Kramel, from 1991 to 1993 assistant to Dietmar Eberle.

From 2000 to 2002 he worked as a lecturer at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences at the Faculty of Building Science there. From 2002 to 2006 he was full professor for design, construction and construction at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences . In addition, from 2004 to 2006 he was honorary professor for design and construction at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (formerly the Polytechnic of Namibia ) and thus first professor for architecture in the newly founded state of Namibia .

In 1992 Gerd Jäger founded his own architecture office and in 2010, together with Dietmar Eberle , the architecture office BE Berlin. Gerd Jäger is a partner at Baumschlager Eberle Architects.

Jäger is married, has four children and lives in Berlin and Schwerin.

Memberships and engagement

Gerd Jäger has been a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) since 1997 and a member of the Berlin Chamber of Architects (since 2015). From 1992 to 2015 he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Chamber of Architects, from 1999 to 2005 on its board. From 1999 to 2000 he was a member of the Ordre des architectes ingenieurs (OAI), Luxembourg. In 1998 Gerd Jäger became a member of the BDA competition committee, from 1999 to 2012 he was chairman of the competition committee. From 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the Working Group of Young Architects (AKJAA). From 2006 to 2012 Jäger was chairman of the board of the BDA, state association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

  • 2010 BDA Prize Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (recognition) for the district administration of North-West Mecklenburg, Grevesmühlen (with Joachim Brenncke )
  • 2010 Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania BDA Prize (recognition) for the Reiferbahn sports hall , Schwerin, (with Brenncke).
