Joachim Brenncke

Joachim Brenncke (born February 8, 1957 in Wulfsahl near Karrenzin ) is a German architect. From 1991 to 2019 he was President of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Chamber of Architects .

biography

education and profession

Brenncke grew up on his family's farm in Wulfsahl near Parchim . After graduating from high school in Parchim at the Friedrich-Franz-Gymnasium , he studied from 1978 to 1983 at the University of Architecture and Building in Weimar with a. a. Hermann With and Joachim Stahr. He obtained his diploma in 1983.

From 1983 to 1990 he worked for the Schwerin urban development company as a design architect and group leader. In 1989 Brenncke also participated in the Save the Shelf City initiative . After the fall of the Wall he has been a freelance architect in Schwerin (Brenncke Architects) since May 1990 . The building at Puschkinstrasse 10, which he had laboriously saved from demolition, could now be permanently secured and later renovated. The renovation of buildings is a focus of his work. He participated in many competitions and was a member of several juries.

Brenncke is married; he has two sons, his son Matthias Brenncke (* 1979) is also an architect in the Brenncke office.

Teaching assignments

From 1997 to 2004 he also had teaching assignments at the University of Wismar , Department of Architecture for building renovation and special building constructions and, after 2001, for supervising diploma theses as a second examiner. From 2000 to 2004 he was also a lecturer for the Schwerin Chamber of Crafts in the field of restoration in the craft.
