Oxasulfuron is an active ingredient in crop protection and belongs to the sulfonylurea herbicide class . It's a beige solid.
history
Oxasulfuron was developed by Novartis Crop Protection (now Syngenta ) and introduced in 1996.
effect
Oxasulfuron is a selective herbicide . It is absorbed via the roots and nodes and transported on to the meristematic tissue. The active ingredient acts as an ALS inhibitor . Here, the biosynthesis of amino acids L leucine , L -isoleucine and L -valine , so some essential amino acids , inhibited . This inhibits cell division , so that growth comes to a standstill. Ultimately, the plants fade and necrosis forms , which is why the weeds die.
use
It is mainly used against broad-leaved weeds and grasses in soybean crops.
Environmental aspects
Oxasulfuron not bee toxic, but chronic aquatic environment . The degradation takes place hydrolytically and microbially with a half-life of approx. 14 days.
proof
Residues can be determined in plants and soils using the HPLC method . A UV detector is required for this.
Admission status
In Germany there are none so far pesticides admitted that this active ingredient contained. Oxasulfuron can be used in the EU .
