Gerd Jaburek (* 1977 in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Gerd Jaburek studied flute with Herbert Weissberg and singing with Martin Klietmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and enjoyed further training in voice with Nicolai Gedda , Ion Buzea , John Norris, David Lee Brewer, Gottfried Hornik and Ivan Konsulov, among others. He took master classes with Inge Borkh , Francisco Araiza , Heinz Zednik , Kurt Equiluz , Manfred Jung , George Crasnaru, Jill Feldman and at the Verein Meisterkurse für Operndarstellung e. V. Munich.

Since 2010 he has been a scholarship holder of the Internationale Gesangsstudios Berlin e. V. with further training of the voice with Cesare Colona. In 2006 he received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Foundation Vienna.

He gained his first stage experience while studying at the Theater im Palais Graz and then in the productions Das Traumfresserchen and Peter Pan by Wilfried Hiller in children's operas at the Vienna State Opera .

Engagements have taken him to the Graz Opera House and the Graz Schauspielhaus , the Volkstheater Vienna , the Vienna Chamber Opera , the St. Margarethen Opera Festival , the Theater Ulm, Theater Pforzheim, Theater Fürth, Theater Regensburg, Musiktheater Wil and Royal Theater Waterford. In summer 2012 he was the captain in Wozzeck at the theater in Pforzheim.

His repertoire includes roles such as Valletto ( L'incoronazione di Poppea ), Testo (Monteverdi: Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda ), Mercurio ( Johann Josef Fux : Daphne in Lauro ), Oronte ( Alcina ), Bastien ( Bastien and Bastienne ), Belmonte ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ), Don Ottavio ( Don Giovanni ), Tamino ( The Magic Flute ), Don Narciso ( Il turco in Italia ), Malcolm and Macduff (Verdi: Macbeth ), Fragoletto (Offenbach: The Bandits ), Tuffaldino ( Love for the three oranges ), Andres und Hauptmann ( Wozzeck , Alban Berg), rat poison ( Detlef Glanert : joke, satire, irony and deeper meaning ), Lambertuccio ( Boccaccio ), Adam and Count Stanislaus ( The Bird Dealer ), Niccolò Paganini ( Paganini ), Alfred ( Die Fledermaus ), Tobias ( Sweeney Todd ), Tony Candolino ( Terrence McNally : Master Class ).

He appears as a concert singer and at various festivals, such as the Tyrolean Festival Erl , the Styriarte , the Styrian Autumn , the chamber music festival "Allegro Vivo", the week of old music Krieglach and the Festival de Musique Ancienne de Dieppe.

In addition to appearances in Austria with concerts, including in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein , he had engagements in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France, Ireland, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Japan.
