Gerd Rosenkranz (born July 6, 1950 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German journalist and author who specializes in the subject of energy .

Career

Gerd Rosenkranz grew up in Meinerzhagen . After graduating from high school there and studying metal science, he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart in the late 1970s and received his doctorate in 1979 from the University of Stuttgart . He then studied communication science and journalism at the University of Hohenheim . From 1988 to 1992 he was editor of the daily newspaper (with a focus on the RAF, among other things ) and then worked as a freelance journalist a. a. for the taz, the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Frankfurter Rundschau , Die Woche , Die Zeit and the Spiegel .

From 1999 to 2004 he was a permanent editor at the Spiegel office in the capital . The employment contract was terminated by mutual agreement after disputes about the position of the paper on renewable energies . Among other things, Stefan Aust had tipped a cover story by Rosenkranz and Harald Schumann about wind energy .

From October 2004 to December 2013 Rosenkranz was Head of Politics and Press at Deutsche Umwelthilfe e. V. in Berlin . Until his retirement he was Head of Policy Issues at Agora Energiewende .
