Gerd Werthmüller (born November 4, 1948 ) is a former German soccer player who played 14 times for Hertha BSC in the 1st Bundesliga .

Player career

youth

In his youth, Werthmüller first played for TuS Jägersfreude , from where he switched to the offspring of 1. FC Saarbrücken .

1. FC Saarbrücken

Gerd Werthmüller made his debut for the first team of FCS as an 18-year-old in the Regionalliga Südwest and reached second place behind Borussia Neunkirchen in the 1966/67 season , but failed in the promotion round to the Bundesliga. Werthmüller became a regular player in his second season . However, Saarbrücken was only fifth. In 1968/69 Werthmüller's team took third place behind SV Alsenborn and TuS Neuendorf and thus just missed the promotion round. After placing 6th place in 1969/70 and 4th place in 1970/71 , the club crashed completely in 1971/72 and ended the season with the worst placement in the club's history only in 12th place. After a total of 150 competitive games with 50 goals, Gerd left Werthmüller won 1. FC Saarbrücken.

Hertha BSC

From 1972 Gerd Werthmüller laced his shoes for Hertha BSC . Under coach Helmut Kronsbein , he was immediately in the starting line-up on the first match day of the 1972/73 Bundesliga season . However, he lost his regular place during the season and at the end of the season played only a minor role as a supplementary player. Even if Werthmüller had certainly hoped for more in 1973/74 , his hope was not fulfilled and he only played three games in the first half of the season. After Hans Eder was installed as the new trainer in March, Gerd Werthmüller stopped playing.

SV Röchling Völklingen

1974 Gerd Werthmüller signed a contract with in the 2. Bundesliga South playing SV Röchling Völklingen . However, Werthmüller could not prevail under Helmuth Johannsen in the 1974/75 season . Despite number 13 came to the season 1975/76 with Herbert Binkert a new coach, the Röchling Völklingen at No. 6 resulted. However, Werthmüller only came to most of his 15 missions in the final phase of the season. Even in 1976/77 Werthmüller could not play. SV Röchling Völklingen achieved relegation in terms of sport, but withdrew to the Saarland Amateur League for financial reasons .
