Gerhard Commichau

Gerhard Commichau (born August 17, 1933 in Wittenberg ; † March 2, 2019 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Gerhard Commichau was the second son of the doctor Rudolph Commichau and his wife Elisabeth, geb. Drive. He was married and had a son.

He attended the Freiherr vom Stein-Gymnasium in Oldenburg in Holstein and got his Abitur there in 1953. After studying in Erlangen and Hamburg , he passed the legal state exams in 1956 and 1960 and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1961 he joined the then law firm Dres. Burchard-Motz , Deuchler , Krauel as a lawyer in Hamburg . He worked in an advisory and forensic way in commercial law and made a name for himself above all in the field of stock exchange law. For many years, Commichau was the legal advisor of the Federal Association of Price Brokers at the German Stock Exchanges .

Education and profession

From 1978 to 1988 Commichau took on various teaching positions in the law faculties at the University of Hamburg as well as seminars at the German Lawyers' Academy. He was a member of the board of directors of the German Bar Association as well as chairman of the board of trustees of the German Bar Academy and from 1985 to 1990 head of the German delegation to the Council of the Bar of the European Community - CCBE . Commichau was particularly committed to the East German legal profession by co-founding and intensively promoting the association ADIUVAT - Anwaltschaft hilft Anwaltschaft eV in early 1990 . Commichau wrote a large number of specialist articles on legal training and stock exchange law as well as textbooks on legal work and antitrust law.

Non-profit

Commichau held more than 16 different honorary posts in foundations and support associations. Among other things, he was Knight of Honor (1981), Knight of Law (1989) and, from 1990 to 2001, Governing Commander of the Hamburg Commendation of the Order of St. John , member of the board of directors of the Hamburg Aid Association, the Daniel Schutte Foundation in Hamburg and various other foundations, the housing for the elderly and Maintain care places as well as in the board of trustees of the Alten Eichen hospital and the St. Elisabeth Foundation for handicapped small children. Commichau was also chairman of the Johanna and Fritz Buch Memorial Foundation and the Esche Schümann Commichau Foundation .
