The Esche Schümann Commichau Foundation (written in capital letters), based in Hamburg , was founded in 1997 on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the Esche Schümann Commichau partnership .

Foundation purpose

According to the statutes , the purpose of the foundation is to promote training in the legal, economic and tax advisory professions, primarily in the field of commercial law, among other things by advertising competitions in the context of diploma theses and other scientific work, awarding scholarships, and paying grants on the printing costs of dissertations and other scientific work as well as the financing of stays abroad and in Germany for the purpose of training.

The awarding of the award takes place regularly at the headquarters of the foundation in the form of two annual awards to three candidates each. The candidates present the main theses of their research project and have a short discussion on the content of their work. On a special occasion, two of the Foundation's previous award ceremonies took place in the plenary hall of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court , and one award ceremony took place in the Bucerius Law School . Since its inception, the foundation has awarded a total of 122 awards to university graduates.
