Gerhard Garstenauer (born January 22, 1925 in Fusch ; † November 22, 2016 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian architect .

Career

Garstenauer, born in 1925 in a small Austrian community, studied architecture with Siegfried Theiss from 1947 to 1952 at the Technical University of Vienna . From 1954 he worked as a freelance architect in Salzburg . In 1956 he participated in the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg by Konrad Wachsmann part. From 1973 to 1978 he taught at the University of Innsbruck . The Bad Gasteiner Felsenbad, built by him in the 1960s, is an example of an architecture made of rocks, concrete and glass inserted into a difficult topography.
