Gerhard Gebauer

Gerhard Gebauer (born December 15, 1926 in Heimboldshausen ; † June 3, 2017 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) was a German lawyer and local politician ( SPD ).

Life

Gerhard Gebauer was mayor from 1960 to 1961 , and from 1962 to 1972 mayor of Schwenningen am Neckar . He was instrumental in merging the city with Villingen in the Black Forest to form the common city of Villingen-Schwenningen . From the merger in 1972 until 1994, Gebauer was Lord Mayor of Villingen-Schwenningens. Since 1999, he has had a seat on the local council held in the city.

From 1962 to 1971 Gebauer belonged to the district council of the Rottweil district , to which Schwenningen belonged until the merger with Villingen. With the merger in 1972, the Schwarzwald-Baar district was created , of which Gebauer was also a member.

From 1973 to 1994 Gebauer was a member of the Presidium and the Main Committee of the German Association of Cities and from 1980 to 1983 its Vice-President. During this time he was particularly committed to the European work of the cities. From 1983, Gebauer was a member of the Presidium and the Main Committee of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions / German Section (CEMR / DS ) based in Brussels. Since 1995 he has been an honorary member of the German Association of Cities.
