Gerhard Grill

Gerhard Grill (born November 2, 1936 , † February 28, 2014 in Göppingen ) was a German handball player .

Grill played at Frisch Auf Göppingen since his youth . From 1955 to 1965 he was part of the men's team of Göppingen, with whom he became German field handball champion in 1957 and in 1958 , 1959 , 1960 , 1961 and 1965 in the hall. He also won the European Champions Cup with Frisch Auf in 1960 and 1962 . In 1959 he was awarded the silver bay leaf .

Gerhard Grill played 33 international matches for the German national team . He took part in the handball world championships in 1961 and 1964 and in the field handball world championship in 1963 , in which he came second behind the GDR team .

In 1965 he ended his playing career and together with his brother took over the parents' clothing business in Eislingen, Baden-Württemberg .

In 2002, Grill founded the Gerhard Grill Frisch Auf Jugend Foundation with the aim of promoting and strengthening the cohesion and social competence of the club's youth through community experiences relating to club sports. The Foundation's ambassadors are his former teammates Bernhard Kempa , Dieter Nau , Horst Singer and Edwin Vollmer .
