Gerhard Maier (born June 16, 1982 in Judenburg ) is an Austrian presenter , journalist and actor .

Life

After graduating from high school , Gerhard Maier studied journalism and public relations at the FH Joanneum . His journalistic career began in 2006 at the ORF radio station Ö1 in the journal editorial office (Chronik), where, among other things, he designed articles for the Ö1 lunch journal . After a short detour to the radio and television editorial team at the ORF regional studio in Vienna, he switched to Ö3 as a reporter in 2007 . There he occasionally moderates the Ö3 news and oversees the Ö3 alarm clock . From 2013 to 2019, he and Christiane Wassertheurer alternately presented the ZIB magazine and the ZIB Flash on ORF eins . For the ZIB broadcasts on ORF1, Maier continuously creates contributions and reports from Germany and abroad. Since April 2019 he has been moderating all ZIB broadcasts on ORF1 with ZIB18 , ZIB20 and ZIBNacht .

In addition to his work as a television presenter, Gerhard Maier also works as a live presenter on stage. In 2019 he moderated the German JUVE Awards in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, among others, in double with Lisa Gadenstätter . In 2016, for example, he moderated the award ceremony for the 2016 ADGAR Advertising Prize from the Association of Austrian Newspapers .

Since 2001 he has been present in theater productions at regular intervals. In 2013 he played a supporting role in Andreas Schmied's comedy Die Werkstürmer a lawyer. In 2017 he can be seen in a short appearance on the anniversary season of Schnell determined . Most recently in Der Kirschgarten (Theater Oberzeiring) or Hysterikon in the vestibule of the Burgtheater .

Trivia

Gerhard Maier received increased media attention through a breakdown in ZIB magazine on April 1, 2014. He announced an article on the topic of Lufthansa pilots' strike, which was not yet completed at the time. So he filled the one-and-a-half minute waiting time with various aviation-related phrases and thus developed a humorous dimension: "The story is still in flight, maybe it's not the best flying weather" or "the flight should start now" .
