Gerhard Naujokat

Gerhard Naujokat (* 1932 in Allenstein (East Prussia); † November 8, 2017 in Verden ) was a German Protestant pastor , youth, marriage and family counselor and publicist.

Life

After studying psychological, pedagogical and socio-ethical topics, Naujokat was initially a youth leader and judge in Frankfurt am Main . Then he studied Protestant theology in Marburg and after his ordination in 1968/1969 parish pastor in Rottenburg an der Laaber . From 1969 until his retirement in 1999 he was Secretary General of the White Cross . During his term of office, the construction of the new administrative center of the White Cross with a conference center in Ahnatal and the establishment of a state-recognized nationwide pregnancy conflict counseling and adoption mediation center fall . He had written numerous books for the White Cross, founded the quarterly magazine Sexualethik und Seelsorge , as well as launched a publishing house and scientific advisory board.

Naujokat called for the introduction of a "pensioner marriage" for widowed Christians, since older people should not be forced into "wild" partnerships because of the threat of losing their pension rights. In the run-up to the revision of the Personal Status Act , which came into force in 2009, this caused some contradictions, including among church leaders.

In his retirement in 2005 he took over the editing of the “Direction. Journal for Orientation of Life ”(previously“ Philadelphia - Cross and Reich ”), a monthly publication of the Philadelphia publishing house, Waiblingen.
