Gerhard Reber

Gerhard Rudolf Reber (born April 28, 1937 in Mannheim ) is a professor emeritus for corporate management and organizational behavior at the University of Linz .

Life

After graduating from high school, Reber completed a commercial internship at BASF and in the early 1960s gained practical work experience at Wärtsilä in Helsinki and Canadian General Electric Company Ltd. in Toronto. He completed his business administration studies at the Mannheim Business School with a thesis on Refa work design and Refa remuneration from a theoretical performance perspective . In 1966 he studied industrial relations as part of his MBA studies as a DAAD scholarship holder at the University of Toronto . He continued this orientation towards human resource management with his dissertation and obtained his habilitation with the help of a research grant from the DFG in 1972 with an analysis of decision- making approaches - dealing with the fundamentals of personal behavior in the company .

Later, his research focuses on motivation , learning , groups , intercultural management and leadership behavior . In 1975 he pleaded for a behavioral orientation in business administration. Reber u. a. at August Marx . From 1976 to 2006 he was co-editor of the magazine Die Betriebswirtschaft and from 1977 to 1985 lecturer at the Federal Administration Academy . Reber held visiting professorships at universities in Vienna , Regensburg (as a substitute for a chair), Leipzig , Toronto , Atlanta and Dallas .

Reber is co-founder and later scientific director of the Linz Management Academy . He received an honorary doctorate from the University of St. Gallen (1991), the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration (2000) and the N.A. Dobrolyubov State Linguistic University in Nizhny Novgorod .

At the JKU in Linz, he was a full professor at the Institute for Management from 1973 to 2005.

Gerhard Reber was a member of the Corps Rheno-Nicaria Mannheim .
