Gerhard Anton Riedmann (born March 24, 1925 in Vienna ; † February 9, 2004 in Kematen in Tyrol ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

The son of a railway official belonged to the Vienna Boys' Choir and received his Matura at the Vienna High School . He studied violin at the Academy of Music in the early 1940s until he was drafted into military service. From 1945 to 1946 he attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar . He made his debut in 1947 at the Theater in der Josefstadt . From 1953 to 1955 he worked at the Münchner Kammerspiele , then in Zurich, Hamburg and in numerous guest performances.

Gerhard Riedmann was best known as a film actor. After a few minor roles, he achieved his breakthrough in 1953 as Adam in a film adaptation of the operetta The Bird Dealer . In numerous operetta films and homeland films of the 1950s, Riedmann was the main actor as an irresistible charmer, often showing his vocal skills. His partners included Waltraut Haas , Renate Holm and Marianne Hold .

In the sixties Riedmann was mainly a television actor, where he again took on his most impressive tasks in operetta films. After that he was seen in a few less important supporting roles.

On July 15, 1954, he married the actress Eva Probst in Muggendorf , Wiesenttal municipality ; he was divorced from her in 1960. From this marriage there was a daughter Eva-Maria (* around 1955). In 1960 he married the industrialist daughter Anita Swarovski and worked as head of a project group for the glass and optics industry in his father-in-law's plant . Riedmann, father of a total of six children, last lived with his third wife Gertrud in Kematen (Tyrol); there is also his grave.
