Gerhard Selmayr

Gerhard Selmayr (born May 30, 1935 in Munich ) is a German lawyer and ministerial official.

Life

Gerhard Selmayr is the son of General Josef Selmayr . After graduating from the Karlsgymnasium in Munich-Pasing, he studied law and economics at the University of Erlangen from 1954 to 1961 ( 1st state examination in 1958 in Munich; doctorate in 1961 in Erlangen; 2nd state examination in 1962 in Munich).

In the field of Defense Administration , he started from 1963 to 1964 in Wehrbereichsverwaltung  VI in Dachauerstraße 128 in Munich, was then 1964-1965 Legal Adviser at the II. Corps in Ulm and from 1965 to 1967 in the Federal Ministry of Defense , most recently as personal assistant to the State Secretary, active. From 1968 to 1969 he was in the Federal Chancellery personal assistant to the later Federal President Karl Carstens , who was then head of the Federal Chancellery was. From 1969 to 1971 he was again employed in the military administration.

From 1971 to 1973 he was head of the central administrative department at the Federal Institute for Vocational Training Research in Berlin , before he was Chancellor of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich from 1973 to 1978 . From 1978 to 2000 he was Chancellor of the University of Karlsruhe (TH) . On October 1, 2003, after Jakob Messerli moved to Bern , he took over the management of the State Museum for Technology and Work , which he temporarily headed until it was handed over to his successor Hartwig Lüdtke on February 3, 2006. Since 1976 he has been involved in several Rotary clubs and was chairman of the Rotary foundation "mine-ex", which campaigns for the banning of landmines worldwide.

From his marriage to Silke Selmayr, daughter of General Heinz Gaedcke , the lawyer Martin Selmayr and a daughter emerged.
