Gerhard Struve

Gerhard Struve (born September 3, 1835 in Ummendorf ; † July 6, 1904 in Berlin ) was a domain tenant , sugar manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag .

Struve attended grammar school and later the University of Bonn and the Poppelsdorf Academy . Until 1872 he was a domain tenant and sugar manufacturer in the province of Poznan . He served in the war of 1870/71 .

Struve was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency Magdeburg Region 8 ( Halberstadt - Wernigerode - Oschersleben ) from 1866 to 1876. After he had rejected a new election for personal reasons, he was from 1879 to 1882 from his home county Neuhaldensleben - Wolmirstedt again in the Chamber of Deputies -House chosen. He was also a city councilor in Berlin and was committed to socially vulnerable young people and children. The Struveshof is named after him.

From 1877 to 1887 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Frankfurt an der Oder 4 ( Lebus ) and the National Liberal Party .

Gerhard Struve's grave of honor

Struve was honored in 1903 as the city ​​elder of Berlin and later with the grave of honor of the city of Berlin in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery . His tombstone was apparently re-inscribed and incorrectly after the Second World War .
