The Leipzig I Judicial Office was a lower judicial and administrative authority in the Kingdom of Saxony . It existed from 1856 to 1879.

On the basis of the law of 11 August 1855 on the future establishment of the first instance authorities for the administration of justice and administration in Saxony, the two royal court offices Leipzig I and II were opened in October 1856 for the area around Leipzig. The division between the two offices was based on an imaginary north-south line in two approximately equal court districts, the court office Leipzig I was assigned to the east and the court office number II to the west.

This area of ​​the Judicial Office I covered about 132 km² and initially had about 24,000 inhabitants. August Adolph Wilhelm Köllner, who was previously a magistrate at the Borna Justice Office, became head of the facility as judicial officer. The Leipzig I court office had 17 employees when it opened and 27 when it closed. The weekly newspaper “Leipziger Dorfanzeiger” served as the official gazette. The Leipzig I court office was subordinate to the Royal District Court of Leipzig.

After the restructuring of the court organization in accordance with the law on the organization of the authorities for internal administration of April 21, 1873, the administrative powers of the court office were transferred in 1874 to the newly formed Amtshauptmannschaft Leipzig . Justice matters were taken over by the Leipzig District Court from 1879 .

Seat and jurisdiction

The Leipzig I court office was located on the second floor of the Pleißenburg tower building , where parts of the Leipzig district office had previously been housed.

He was responsible for the 22 communities to the east of Leipzig: Abtnaundorf , Anger , Baalsdorf , Crottendorf , Engelsdorf , Großpösna , Güldengossa , Hirschfeld , Holzhausen , Liebertwolkwitz , Mölkau , Neuschönefeld , Neusellerhausen , Reudnitz , Schönefeld , Sellerhausen , Stötteritz , Stünzkm , Volkmarsdorf , and Volkmarsdorf Street houses , Zuckelhausen , Zweinaundorf as well as the university forest and the Oberholz and also the administrative tasks within the urban area that do not fall to the Leipzig City Council.

In addition, in 1874 there were legal powers for 12 communities of the Rötha court office, which was dissolved at that time .
