The brewery was founded on the Spiekerhof in Münster, where the brewing tradition has been handed down since the 13th century. In 1899 the brewery was relocated to the Neustadt on Grevener Straße, where the brewery expanded rapidly and was converted into a stock corporation in 1926 .

In the heyday, in addition to export, the Edel-Pils, the Bockbier and a Doppelbock as well as the Kraft-Malzbier were all sold under the name Germania.

Around 1960, Germania Brewery F. Dieninghoff GmbH in Münster was one of the largest breweries in Germany with an annual output of 600,000 hectoliters . The Germania brewery merged with the Dortmund Union brewery in 1963 . The Münster-based company was continued as an independent GmbH and operating facility of the Dortmund brewery. In the 1970s, the relocation of sales and production to the Dortmunder Union brewery resulted in sales losses at the Germania brewery . In 1984 the group management decided to close the production and filling areas in the Münster part of the company.

The main building of the former brewery was converted into a Germania Therme adventure pool in 1989 . Economic difficulties lead to the closure of the Germania Therme in 2001. At the former location of the brewery, the new Germania Campus district was built by 2009, integrating the listed building fabric .
