The Gerolsbach , also known as the Kleine Ilm , is an approximately 20 km long river in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm that runs to the north-east and flows into the upper Ilm from the left in the town of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm .

geography

course

The Gerolsbach rises south of the parish village Junkenhofen between the Einöden Forsthof in the south and Voglhof in the north in the area of the municipality Gerolsbach from a small pond on the northern edge of a wood. It flows initially in a northerly, then northeast, and finally a long east-northeast direction through a hilly landscape that is predominantly agricultural up to the city limits of Pfaffenhofen. Sections of the state road St 2050 to Gerolsbach- Klenau , the district road PAF 5 to Gerolsbach- Singenbach , the St 2084 to Scheyern - Euernbach and the St 2045 to run alongside the river in the valley basin, which is often less than 30 meters deeper than the surrounding hills the edge of the settlement of the mouth of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. The Gerolsbach flows into the Ilm south of the old town of Pfaffenhofen.

After a 20.2 km long path with an average bed gradient of only about 3 ‰, the river flows about 61 meters below its origin.

Catchment area

The 94.2 km² catchment area of the Gerolsbach belongs, from a natural point of view, to the Danube-Isar hill country of the Lower Bavarian hill country . Its about 545  m above sea level. It reaches its greatest height on a forest hill carrying a radio mast on the eastern border near the Gerolsbach wasteland of Wüstersberg .

Beyond the right, southeastern watershed, the upper Ilm collects its left tributaries, all of which are much smaller, in front of the Gerolsbach. Behind the western smaller streams run again from the right to the Weilach whose drain on the pair reached the Danube. In the northwest and north, shorter tributaries run further down to Paar. The northeastern watershed all the way back to the estuary borders only briefly on the catchment area of the downstream Ilm, which feeds the Danube deeper over the Abens .
