The Gersthofer traffic mbH ( GVG ) operates public transport in Gersthofen. The company emerged on October 1, 2006 from the Gersthofen public transport company. The shareholders of GVG are the city of Gersthofen and the bus operator Werner Ziegelmeier.

Traffic area

GVG only serves stops in AVV tariff zones 20 and 33 ( Langweid ). The main tasks are the local traffic in Gersthofen and the connection to the AVG tram line 4 in Augsburg North. In addition, GVG served the Augsburg city bus route 21 as a subcontractor (on behalf of) the Augsburger Verkehrsgesellschaft until April 30, 2016.

Until the introduction of the AVV community tariff on September 1, 1995, Stadtwerke Augsburg and Stadtwerke Gersthofen were collectively united in the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Augsburg (VGA).

Omnibuses

Gersthofer Verkehrsgesellschaft (GVG) has (as of March 2017) a total of 23 vehicles (including used buses where old car numbers have been reassigned) for regular services, including the IKEA shuttle vehicle. The fleet consists of low-floor buses, various models from Mercedes-Benz . At least five former AVG replacement buses of the type Mercedes-Benz O 405 GN2 , which have now been withdrawn from the Augsburger Verkehrsgesellschaft due to the reopening of the Augsburg Königsplatz , have been taken over by GVG. Two of them are currently in regular service under car number 105 with a third crew and 107 with a second crew (ex AVG No. 3417 with a second crew). The other two were resold via mobile.de without being used by GVG.

Since September 2010, GVG has also been using natural gas buses ( Mercedes-Benz Citaro CNG ) with the Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 and Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 G. Of the natural gas version, one Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 G CNG and four Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 CNGs are in the GVG fleet. The four Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 CNGs were procured specifically for line 21 served on behalf of the Augsburger Verkehrsgesellschaft and were mainly used there.

In 2007 GVG procured a high-floor intercity bus from the manufacturer Van Hool , which however has a wheelchair lift and is therefore also handicapped accessible and is therefore the only exception to the otherwise low-floor vehicle fleet of GVG. However, this vehicle is no longer used for regular services. For some time the bus was with Werner Ziegelmeier. But now he's back at GVG.

The white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with car number 120 (9-seater) is only used in school bus services.

In addition, GVG still has a used MAN SÜ 240 , with several previous owners, as a reserve (also for school transport and special transport for rent) and an inoperable Schenk / Göppel bus trailer from Stadtwerke Augsburg , which was made by Göppel Bus Augsburg at the time Stadtwerke Augsburg was acquired.

The green paintwork of the buses, which since autumn 2008 has been labeled "Green Bus. Have a good trip." is also specifically communicated as a distinguishing mark.
