The Augsburger Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH , abbreviated AVV , is the transport association of the Augsburg region . The network area includes local public transport in the urban district of Augsburg, in the Augsburg district , in the Aichach-Friedberg district and in the old district of Wertingen , which is now part of the Dillingen district. The four regional authorities involved are also the shareholders of the GmbH, which means that it is a so-called task force association . The AVV borders in the east on the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV), in the south on the Landsberger Verkehrsgemeinschaft (LVG) and the Ostallgäuer Verkehrsgemeinschaft (OVG), in the west on the Verkehrsverbund Mittelschwaben (VVM) and in the north on the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Donau- Ries (VDR) and the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Neuburg-Schrobenhausen (VGND). The network area is divided concentrically into tariff zones, the interior zones 10 and 20 are enclosed by zones 31 to 98 (with gaps).

history

The first plans for a transport association in the Augsburg region existed as early as 1974, but the partnership agreement was only signed in 1985 before the association finally commenced business operations on July 1, 1985 and initially started a test operation with eight sections (1 Mering and Kissing; 2 Eurasberg, Dasing, Friedberg, Aichach and Inchenhofen; 3 Aindling and Pöttmes; 4 Gersthofen, Meitingen, Wertingen, Nordendorf, Donauwörth and Otting-Weilheim; 5 Neusäß, Zusmarshausen, Welden and Altenmünster; 6 Langenneufnach, Gessertshausen, Dinkelscherben and Stadtbergen; 7 Klosterlechfeld , Schwabmünchen and Bobingen; 8 Königsbrunn). The AVV initially replaced the collective tariff of the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Augsburg (VGA) before it was completely dissolved in 1995. In later years, the network area was gradually expanded, first from September 24, 1989 to include the Aichach-Friedberg district, then from June 2, 1991 to the Welden / Aystetten / Zusmarshausen area including local rail transport to Donauwörth, and from September 27, 1992 to the Diedorf / Gessertshausen / Dinkelscherben area . Approx. In the mid-1990s, changes were made to the tariff zones. For example, the “Wertachbrücke” stop used to belong to zone 20, whereas today it belongs to zone 10. The city of Friedberg used to be another tariff zone between today's zone 31 and 32. In the course of the new division, Friedberg was from now on still in zone 20 and has been the zone border to tariff zones 31 and 32 that is still valid today. In addition, the AVV- Tariff since August 1, 2006 on the Donauwörth – Treuchtlingen railway line to Otting - Weilheim station in the Donau-Ries district .

Key figures

Development of key figures for the Augsburg Transport and Tariff Association between 2007 and 2015

From 2007 to 2015, the Augsburg Transport and Tariff Association carried between 76 and 78 million passengers annually. During these 8 years, the number of kilometers driven by wagons and trains remained relatively constant at around 24 million. The diagram opposite shows the individual key figures with reference to the fiscal year.

criticism

Despite many protests in the population, prices have increased continuously over the past few years. A tariff reform was supposed to relieve commuters, but this only affects a fraction of the users, for most of them the introduction of the short-haul ticket meant a price increase.

Trivia

Until the 2017/18 timetable change, passengers with the Karocard chip card issued by Stadtwerke Augsburg had to carry a paper ticket on all regional trains and buses for “technical reasons”. Since then this is no longer necessary.
