Gert Kroeger
Gert Kroeger (born March 5 . Jul / 18th March 1907 greg. In Riga , Governorate of Livonia , Imperial Russia , † 3. August 1986 in Eutin , Germany ) was a historian Baltic German origin.
Life
Gert Kroeger grew up in Riga; his parents were the doctor Emil Kroeger (1873–1936) and Mary, b. Erdmann (1880-1957); one brother was Erhard Kroeger . His great-great-uncle was Johann Eduard Erdmann , whose estate he later managed.
After attending school in Riga, Kroeger studied history from 1924 to 1929 in Dorpat , where he was a member of Livonia , then in Marburg and Tübingen with Johannes Haller and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. Since 1929 he was in the school service. He taught at the Baltic School in Miedzyzdroje until 1945 and became the acting headmaster here towards the end of the Second World War . From 1947 to 1969 he worked as a teacher in Lübeck and dealt with historical topics relating to the Baltic States. Most recently he lived in Malente .

Kroeger had been a full member of the Baltic Historical Commission since 1964 . From 1968 to 1975 he was a member of the board of the Carl-Schirren-Gesellschaft .
