Hofmann siblings (1950s)
The Hofmann sibling duo consisted of Elisabeth Deuringer (née Hofmann; * December 5, 1913 ; † May 8, 1988 ) and Gretel Wünsch-Kästel (née Wünsch; * July 27, 1935 ).
Band history
The duo Geschwister Hofmann, founded in 1954 by Hubert Deuringer , received a recording contract in 1955 and had some successes in the following years, including "Take the hours as they come".
At that time, Deuringer brought Gretel Wünsch, who was making test recordings for a singing competition at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart , with his then wife Elisabeth (known as Liesel). A demo tape was recorded and submitted to the DECCA record label . Several song titles were produced under the group name Geschwister Hofmann . The singing duo quickly established themselves at DECCA and soon their voices were incorporated into other groups, e.g. B. with the Fröhlich Quartet , Die Vagabunden and Die Heimatsänger .
During various recordings, their voices were reinforced by members of the RIAS Chamber Choir .
At the end of 1957, the Hofmann siblings appeared on television along with Ralf Bendix , Maria Mucke , Leo Leandros , Angèle Durand , Gitta Lind and Addi Münster .
In 1958 Gretel Wünsch-Kästel signed up to the Hansen Quartet . As a result, the duo broke up despite the sales success.
Her greatest successes are "Seemann, wo ist Deine Heimat" and "Im Silberwald" (soundtrack for Der Wilderer vom Silberwald , a German homeland film from 1957).
1960–1972 Gretel Wünsch-Kästel appeared in various groups, including the Botho Lucas Choir , and also as a soloist. In 1972 she retired from the music business.
Band formations
The Hofmann siblings were active in various formations with other musicians. With the formation Die Heimatsänger they released the single Köhlerliesel , which became a number one hit and topped the single charts in October 1957.
