Stranded in Paradise ( Survival Island , Three or Survival Island - When looks can kill ) is an American - British - Luxembourgish soft-erotic adventure film by Stewart Raffill from 2005 .

action

The wealthy married couple Jennifer and Jack Matson go on a boat trip in the Caribbean . Among others, the attractive sailor Manuel is there. Before leaving, he was cursed by a young woman. Later in the film, Manuel tells Jennifer that the young woman is pregnant and Manuel wants to marry, but Manuel refuses.

During the cruise, Jack Matson is outraged by Manuel's behavior and complains to his boss, the tour operator. This rebukes Manuel, which angrily makes him throw a rag on the gas stove. The spreading fire forces everyone to leave the ship in the lifeboats. At the same time you can see the young woman performing voodoo rituals that are supposed to bring bad luck to Manuel.

After the fire, Jennifer and Manuel end up on an uninhabited island. They build a hut and make friends. Jennifer assumes that her husband drowned. Two days later, Jack was also washed up, who was found unconscious by Manuel near the shore. Manuel takes on the most important tasks in the struggle for survival.

Jennifer immediately rejoined Jack and stayed away from Manuel. Nevertheless, Jack becomes jealous and insults Manuel, whom he provokes several times. He also behaves disrespectfully towards his wife and is increasingly estranged from her. Jennifer sleeps with Manuel, after which Jack goes his own way. Jack finds a small, damaged boat at the bottom of the bay, pulls it to the beach and begins repairing it in order to flee the island on his own. Jennifer and Manuel steal Jack's boat, but after leaving the island they discover that the leak in the boat was only apparently repaired by Jack and therefore the boat sinks again after a while. You can find your way back to the island where Jack attacks Manuel. The next day Jennifer is caught and tied up by Jack, whereupon Manuel attacks him again and Jennifer and Manuel (injured) escape in the scuffle. The next day, however, Jack tracks them down and the three of them fight for a long time. Again there is a scuffle and while Jack is wrestling with Jennifer over a knife, Manuel tries to kill him with a large stone. Meanwhile, the young woman with her voodoo rituals is faded in and Manuel suddenly falls backwards (apparently pulled by the weight of the large stone), where he is pierced by a branch on the ground and dies.

Jennifer is rescued from a ship some time later. She says she is the only survivor of the disaster and leaves Jack on the island. She takes Jack's lighter with her and thus robs him of the easy way to light a fire.

Reviews

“An erotically charged thriller in the form of a Robinsonad that takes up the almost biblical fall into sin and reports on the expulsion from paradise. A film that mainly suffers from the immature book and the pale actors. "

Matthew Turner wrote in ViewLondon magazine on May 3, 2006 that the direction of the "rubbish" film was "poor" and that the representations were poor. The film is something for fans of bad films. The critic praised the "surprising" good performance of Kelly Brook as well as her nude scenes.

The magazine TV direkt 15/2007 wrote that the promises were "unfulfilled in every respect".

background

The film was shot in Dudelange, Luxembourg, and on the island of Eleuthera , part of the Bahamas . Its production amounted to an estimated 9 million US dollars .

Trivia

Actors Billy Zane and Kelly Brook became a couple while filming and were temporarily engaged to each other. The two separated in 2008.
