Richard Allen Harvey (born September 25, 1953 in London , England ) is a British composer and musician .

Life

Richard Allen Harvey learned the recorder , percussion instruments and clarinet in his childhood . After graduating from the Royal College of Music , he also played the krummhorn and other medieval instruments, as well as the mandolin . He decided against an offer from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and was one of the co-founders of the progressive rock group Gryphon . During this time he worked with British musicians Richard Thompson and Ashley Hutchings, among others . After the band left, he worked as a session musician, for example for Kate Bush and Gerry Rafferty .

He came to film music through the French composer Maurice Jarre , with whom he had already worked together in the mid-1970s. He made his debut with the music for the love drama Lady Chatterley's Lover, staged by Just Jaeckin , as a composer for a feature film.

In 2002 he founded the Tony Prior Musikverlag West One Music Group .
