Harald "Harry" Gfreiter (born December 3, 1973 in Frechenrieden ) is a former German football player and today's coach .
Active career
Harry Gfreiter started his career in the youth in Markt Rettenbach , in the D youth he played at FC Memmingen and in the B youth he went to FC Augsburg . In Memmingen he finally completed his first seasons in the professional field, from 1992 to 1995 in the Bavarian League .
For the 1995/96 season he moved to the (then third-class) regional league club SV Wacker Burghausen , where he stayed for four years. After a year with class opponents VfR Mannheim , he moved to SSV Jahn Regensburg . There, too, like in Burghausen and Mannheim, he was a regular player in the Regionalliga. In the third year he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Jahn . There he only came to two short deployments, which is why he switched to 1. SC Feucht after his immediate relegation . He only stayed there for half a year, as he had been sorted out for "inexplicable reasons" (Gfreiter). After a six-month break, he returned to Jahn in 2005, where he also played in the Bavarian League after relegation in 2006 and was promoted again. After promotion to the regional league, Gfreiter was summoned to the Jahn amateur team to pass on his experience to the young players.
On April 26, 2009, Gfreiter surprised with his comeback in the A-class football at SV Lengfeld, where he let his career end until 2014.
Gfreiter is considered a cult player in Regensburg. Since he was the only player from the 2003/2004 second division season at Jahn who was loyal to the club even after two relegations - apart from half a year at SC Feucht. In 2007 he was elected to Jahn 's eleven of the century . In his active time, Gfreiter was considered a committed player who showed his great fighting spirit in every game.
Coaching career
After his time at Jahn-U23, he worked in the youth division of Jahn, from the 2010/11 season as team coordinator for the professionals. On September 12, 2012 he became an assistant coach of the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga after the previous co-coach Ralf Santelli was moved to the youth department because of differences of opinion with head coach Oscar Corrochano . For the 2013/14 season he was a permanent assistant coach of the first team, while he also made the A license. In the 2016/17 season , Gfreiter took over as head coach of Jahn's U21s in the Bayern League, but was dismissed after relegation to the state league.
