Gianmarco Raimondo (born November 28, 1990 in St. Catharines , Ontario ) is a Canadian racing driver .

Career

Raimondo started his motorsport career in karting in 2000 , in which he was active until 2007. In the 2007/2008 season Raimondo made his first experience in formula racing in the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series, which he finished in 20th place . In 2008 he competed for the Autotecnica team in the American Formula BMW . He won both races on the first race weekend and ended the season as the best newcomer in third place. In 2009, Raimondo stayed with Autotecnica. He won a race and finished in the top four pilots in all races in which he crossed the finish line. In the drivers' championship he again took third place.

After Raimondo had already participated in a race weekend of the Italian Formula 3 championship in 2009 and finished 19th in the drivers' championship, he switched completely to this championship in 2010. Starting for Lucidi Motorsport , he finished the season in 16th place overall, while Stéphane Richelmi , one of his team-mates, was runner-up. In 2011 , Raimondo initially competed in the Formula 3 Euro Series for Motopark Academy . For the fourth race weekend, however, he switched to the Prema Powerteam . With a second place as the best result, Raimondo finished eleventh in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. His Prema team-mate Roberto Merhi won the championship title.

In 2012 Raimondo competed in the European F3 Open for RP Motorsport . Raimondo won four races and was on the podium twelve times. At the end of the season he was runner-up behind his teammate Niccolò Schirò with 267 to 272 . In 2013 , Raimondo initially found no cockpit. In mid-September, he contested two race weekends in the GP2 series for Trident Racing .
