Gianni Motti

Gianni Motti (born June 16, 1958 in Sondrio , Italy ) is a Swiss artist of Italian origin.

He works with very different media: video art , photography , installations and performances . His work is characterized by dealing with political and social issues. Exemplary works are a bar of soap, which, according to the artist, was made from the body fat sucked off by Silvio Berlusconi , (2006) and a video that the US President George W. Bush in the moments before the start of his televised statement on Shows the beginning of the war against Iraq ("Shock and Awe", 2003). In his performance " Higgs " (2005) Motti walked through the tube of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN . Some of his actions and works are provocative, like the simulation of his own funeral procession in the middle of a religious festival in Spain (1989) or a video work that critically examines Raelism . In 1999 Motti took the place of the Indonesian representative at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission and gave a speech. Gianni Motti lives in Geneva .
