The Gießener Hütte is located in the southern Hohe Tauern at 2215  m above sea level. A. Höhe in the Ankogel group and is the starting point for hikes and mountain tours around the Hochalmspitze. It is owned by the section Casting - Oberhessen of the German Alpine Club .

history

In 1913 the old Gießener Hütte was built, which was destroyed by an avalanche on March 31, 1975. On August 28, 1977 the new Gießener Hütte was inaugurated.

Accesses

  • by car from Malta via Koschach, through the Gößgraben via the Kohlmayrhütte to the Gößkarspeicher parking lot, on foot to the hut, walking time: 1½ hours
  • by bus to Malta / Zirmhof, ascent on the driveway, walking time: 6 hours
