The Gießener Hütte is located in the southern Hohe Tauern at 2215 m above sea level. A. Höhe in the Ankogel group and is the starting point for hikes and mountain tours around the Hochalmspitze. It is owned by the section Casting - Oberhessen of the German Alpine Club .

history

In 1913 the old Gießener Hütte was built, which was destroyed by an avalanche on March 31, 1975. On August 28, 1977 the new Gießener Hütte was inaugurated.

by car from Malta via Koschach, through the Gößgraben via the Kohlmayrhütte to the Gößkarspeicher parking lot, on foot to the hut, walking time: 1½ hours
by bus to Malta / Zirmhof, ascent on the driveway, walking time: 6 hours
