Gil Vermouth ( Hebrew גיל ורמוט; * August 5, 1985 in Haifa ) is an Israeli soccer player who has been under contract with Maccabi Haifa since 2012 . He also has a Polish passport.
Career
Vermouth began his career in the youth team at Hapoel Haifa , where he was brought to the first team in 2005. In his first season Vermouth had to relegate with his home club from the highest Israeli league. In 2005 he moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv . In the championship, the offensive midfielder was runner-up with his new club straight away. Furthermore, you could win the cup with a 1-0 victory in the final against Bne Jehuda Tel Aviv . Another milestone in Vermouth's career was the debut at European club level. In the UEFA Cup he played on October 19, 2007 against Panathinaikos Athens for the first time internationally. Vermouth was substituted on for Ibezito Ogbonna in the 68th minute. The game in Athens was lost 2-0. Hapoel made it through to the third round of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup. In the championship you finished fourth at the end of the season; the cup success from the previous year could be repeated.
At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Vermouth moved to Belgium and signed with KAA Gent . In the championship you could achieve sixth place in the end. Furthermore, they got to the cup final, where they lost 3-2 to RSC Anderlecht . After only one year he returned to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
In the first season after his return they were runner-up at the end of the season, six points behind Maccabi Haifa .
For the 2011/12 season Vermouth moved to Bundesliga club 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils until 2015. He made his debut for FCK on matchday seven when he came on for Clemens Walch in the 58th minute against VfL Wolfsburg . After just six months and two Bundesliga games for FCK, he was loaned by the club to the Dutch club VBV De Graafschap Doetinchem until the end of the 2011/12 season. No purchase option was agreed.
At the beginning of September 2012 he returned to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Vermouth made his debut for the Israeli national team on March 28, 2009 as part of the World Cup qualification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . In the game against Greece he was substituted on for Tamir Cohen in the 85th minute .
