Gilbert Just (born April 5, 1914 in Brno ; † April or May 1986) was senior city director of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital Düsseldorf in the 1970s .

Gilbert Just was born as the son of the tax secretary Karl Just and his wife Hedwig Just. He studied law and economics at the German University in Prague . In 1945 he became a government assessor in Hessen. About the posts as deputy district administrator in Gießen and Groß-Gerau , consultant for price monitoring in the Darmstadt regional council, head of the price monitoring office, mayor in Grünberg / Upper Hesse (March to August 1946) and Bad Soden am Taunus (1948–1957), city ​​director in Leverkusen ( 1957–1963) Just came to Düsseldorf as city director in 1963 and was appointed senior city director on October 15, 1964 as the successor to Walther Hensel (SPD). Just retired on November 11, 1976, followed by Gerd Högener (SPD). Just campaigned for the Düsseldorf University to be named after the local poet Heinrich Heine . For more than 15 years he was chairman of the Düsseldorf district association of the German Red Cross and was involved in the main committee of the German Association of Cities and the State Committee of the Association of North Rhine-Westphalian Cities for 10 years . He belonged to the SPD . In 1984 he received the Great Federal Cross of Merit . He was also Honorary Commander Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and Commendatore dell ' Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana .

In 1940 he married Martha Worel, with whom he had three daughters and a son.
