Gina Werfel

Gina Werfel (born July 1, 1951 in Brooklyn ) is an American painter and teacher. She is Professor of Art at the University of California at Davis , California .

life and work

Gina Werfel studied art at Hamilton College (Kirkland College) in Clinton and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 . She then led the Paris Summer Session at the New York Studio School until 1975 and completed her studies in 1979 at Columbia University with a Master of Fine Arts. From 1991 to 1997 she was a professor at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia . Then she was until 2000 at the University of Connecticut Professor and Head of the Department of Art and Art History. She has been Professor of Art at the University of California at Davis since 2000 . In 2017 Werfel signed a multi-part public art contract for Burnett Miller Park in Sacramento . Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in the US and abroad. Werfel is married to the painter Hearne Pardee , who is also a professor of art at UC Davis.
