Gionata Mingozzi (born December 29, 1984 in Ravenna , † July 15, 2008 in Campagna Lupia ) was an Italian football player on the position of midfielder .

At the age of 23 he died in a car accident in Campagna Lupia, Italy . His last club was the FBC Treviso in the second-rate series B .

Career

Youth and club career

Mingozzi started in the junior division of his home club Ravenna Calcio . After he went through several youth leagues, he came in 2001 to appearances in the first team of the club based in the Emilia-Romagna region . Within two years he and the team made it up from the sixth class Eccellenza to the fourth class Serie C2 . Before moving to Perugia Calcio (Serie B) in the summer of 2004, Mingozzi had scored two goals in 77 league games.

At the club from the university town of Perugia he made 14 league appearances before he moved to the Italian first division club Sampdoria Genoa and on February 26, 2006 in the 0-1 defeat against AC Siena on a substitution in the 90th minute of his debut in the highest League of the country existed. After another brief assignment, he was awarded to US Lecce in the summer of 2006 . There he came to championship appearances before he returned to Samsdoria Genoa and finally in 2007 to the then Italian second division club, FBC Treviso. There he came to 17 but goalless league games until his death.

On the morning of July 15, 2008, he had a fatal accident in a car accident when he lost control of his car, a Porsche Cayman , and crashed head-on into an oncoming semi- trailer. Despite the immediate help of other drivers and the early arrival of an ambulance, Mingozzi succumbed to his serious injuries.
