Giorgos G. Alisandratos
Giorgos G. Alisandratos ( Greek Γιώργος Γ. Αλισανδράτος , * 1915 in Lixuri , Kephallonia ; † March 7, 2004 in Athens ) was a Greek neo-Graecist , literary critic and historian .
Alisandratos studied at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Athens after attending school . There he was from 1925 to 1936 member of the student Ακαδημαϊκός Ομίλος ( Academic Association ), which worked at the faculty with the aim of cleaning up the Dimotiki . After completing his studies, he initially worked in the private school system and then worked closely with Manolis Triantaphyllidis for many years until his death . Alisandratos gave seminars on modern Greek literature at the universities of Rome , Naples and Palermo .
Alisandratos worked in three areas: on modern Greek, especially Heptanesian philology (on Bergadis Laskaratos , Solomos , Avlichos , Vergotis , Valaoritis , Palamas , Mavilis , Kalvos , Sikelianos , Kavafis , Gryparis , Varnalis , Sykutris and others); on the modern Greek language (on the demoticism of Triantaphyllidis, on Psycharis and his book Meine Reise ( Greek Το ταξίδι μου ), on the two lexicons of Kriaras , on the modern Greek common language and its learned elements, on the grammar of Agapitos Tsopanakis and so on); and on Heptanesian history (on Nicodemos Metaxas , Nikolaos Konemenos , on Heptanesian radicalism, on Kosmas from Aitolia on Kephallonia and Zakynthos , on the political satires on Kephallonia at the time of the Anglocratic regime and so on).
For his complete works he received the Prize of the Academy of Athens in 1994 and the State Prize for Literature from the Greek Ministry of Education and Culture in 1997. The Εταιρεία Κεφαλληνιακών Ιστορικών Ερευνών and the Εταιρεία Κερκυραϊκών Σπουδών also honored him with the dedication of magazine volumes and seminars.
