Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli

Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli OFMCap (born June 30, 1926 in Poppi ; † July 6, 2017 in Florence ) was an Italian religious and apostolic vicar of Arabia .

Life

Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on February 7, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on October 2, 1975 Vicar Apostolic of Arabia and Titular Bishop of Masuccaba . The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Agnelo Rossi , ordained him episcopal on February 22, 1976 ; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Bianchi , Auxiliary Bishop in Florence , and Telesforo Giovanni Cioli OCarm , Bishop of Sansepolcro .

Gremoli was responsible for the care of all Catholics in Saudi Arabia , Bahrain , the United Arab Emirates , Oman , Qatar and Yemen with official headquarters in Abu Dhabi .

On March 21, 2005, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He lived in seclusion in the old Capuchin monastery in Florence.
