life and work

Androi belonged to a builder / master builder family from Roveredo in Misox in Graubünden . In 1728 he was recorded in Graz, where he took over the workshop of his countryman Pietro II Zarro . His first known work is the stucco in the choir of the Catholic parish church SS. Pietro e Paolo in the Grisons Mesocco (1720 to 1730). He then worked in Styria , where he in 1730 Veitsch in the provost and in 1731 in the monastery Vorau stuccoed with his relatives Domenico II. Androi the library hall. From 1736 to around 1745 he worked in 45 rooms for St. Lambrecht Abbey (main work: Prelate's Hall, 1739). He also created stucco work in various buildings in Graz (Johanneum, Maria Hilf, 1739) and other places in Styria, such as Kuenburg Castle in Tamsweg , the church in Tamsweg, and the Renathi House in Murau . He stuccoed the rectory in Scheifling, the provost's office in Aflenz and the rectory in St. Marein im Mürz Valley . In Piacenza he stuccoed in the Palazzo Morando of the Sala delle Specchiere.

He was married to Maria Elisabeth Theresia Conrad from 1733.

Androi's treasure trove of shapes ranged from the usual Bandlwerk (also: Bandelwerk ) and the stucco of flower garlands, flower chains and vine branches to palmettes, vases, birds, masks and putti . In a later phase the latticework was added to the bandwork . In the last ten years of his life, echoes of the Rococo are recognizable (Tamsweg Castle).
