Giovanni Ricchiuti (born August 1, 1948 in Bisceglie , Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti with the personal title of Archbishop .

Life

Giovanni Ricchiuti received on 9 September 1972 by the Archbishop of Trani and Barletta , Giuseppe Carata , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Until 1975 he attended the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. Then he was rector of the boys' seminary of the Archdiocese of Trani and Barletta until 1976 . After a few years as a parish priest, he became rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary for Apulia in 1994 .

On July 27, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Acerenza . The secretary of the Congregation for Bishops , Archbishop of the Curia, Francesco Monterisi , ordained him episcopal on October 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, Giovanni Battista Pichierri , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Acerenza, Michele Scandiffio . The inauguration took place on October 15, 2005.

On October 15, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti while retaining the personal title of Archbishop. The inauguration took place on January 4th of the following year.
