Gisle Johansen (* around 1970) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( soprano and tenor saxophone ).

Live and act

Johansen, who was strongly influenced by the music of John Coltrane , formed the quartet Element from 1992 to 1999 with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (bass), Håvard Wiik (piano) and Paal Nilssen-Love (drums) ; the album of the same name was released in 1996. Further recordings were made in 1998 in Oslo with the singer Marvin Charles. During this time Johansen played in the formation Jazzmob , who u. a. Jon Klette , Michael Block, Mats Eilertsen and Jarle Vespestad belonged to it. In 2007 he performed at the Oslo International Jazz Festival with the Crimetime Orchestra (album Atomic Symphony ). In the field of jazz, he was involved in nine recording sessions between 1998 and 20077; he also worked with Petter Wettre .
