Giuliano Bernardi

Giuliano Bernardi (born December 21, 1939 in Ravenna ; † June 4, 1977 ibid) was an Italian opera singer ( tenor / baritone ).

Life

Bernardi received his diploma in singing from the Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Gioachino Rossini" in Pesaro . He then studied with the retired bass-baritone Antonio Gelli . As a baritone he made his debut in Mantua in October 1968 in the title role of Verdi's opera Rigoletto , after winning the international competition As.Li.Co ( Associazione Lirica e Concertistica ). Bernardi sang in numerous Italian theaters and won several international competitions:

  • 1971 the Concorso Achille Peri ;
  • also in 1971 the Concorso internazionale Voci Verdiane (an international RAI competition ), with Katia Ricciarelli ;
  • 1972 the Concorso Internazionale per Cantanti “Toti Dal Monte” , with Ghena Dimitrova .

In the 1970s Bernardi studied with Arrigo Pola and Ettore Campogalliani and trained his voice in the tenor range. He made his tenor debut in 1975 in Florence in the role of "Malcolm" in Verdi's opera Macbeth . In 1976 he recorded in London with José Carreras , Sherrill Milnes and Ruggero Raimondi Macbeth . At the end of December 1976 he sang concerts with Luciano Pavarotti in Chicago and Pittsburgh . While preparing for Verdi's Otello , at the age of 37, he was killed in a car accident.
