Giuliano Carmignola

Giuliano Carmignola (born July 7, 1951 in Treviso ) is an Italian violinist who is active both as a classical violinist and in historical performance practice .

Giuliano Carmignola began learning to play the violin from his father and grandfather, and then entered the Venice Conservatory. After completing these studies, he worked with Nathan Milstein and Franco Gulli at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and with Henryk Szeryng at the Geneva Conservatory .

In the 1970s he went on international concert tours with the Ensemble I Virtuosi di Roma and worked in a piano trio. In 1971 he won the Premio Città di Vittorio Veneto and in 1973 the 5th prize at the Premio Paganini in Genoa.

In the following years he performed with the most renowned European orchestras, under conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Eliahu Inbal . For ten years he was a professor of violin at the Venice Conservatory and also taught at the Siena Music Academy. In 1999 he was appointed to the Lucerne School of Music . From 1978 to 1985 he was concertmaster of the opera orchestra at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

Since his work with the Ensemble Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca and the Venice Baroque Orchestra under Andrea Marcon , Carmignola has been a well-known soloist on the baroque violin . Numerous baroque festivals such as Bruges, Lucerne, Vienna, Brussels, Salzburg and Barcelona are part of his regular field of activity. His musical focus is on Italian music of the 18th century. He plays violins which are attributed to Pietro Guarneri (1733) and Florenus Guidantus (1739).

2015 he played with cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Dejan Lazic , the Basel Chamber Orchestra , conducted by Giovanni Antonini , the Triple Concerto Ludwig van Beethoven one.
